Dexters Steakhouse & Grill based in Carmarthen has a prime location on the Carmarthen estuary serving locally sourced produce and also catering for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free dishes and children. Dexters Steakhouse & Grill is very much a family-friendly restaurant with menus for customers. Our terrace with spectacular views over the Towy River is also dog friendly for our four-legged friends to sit and relax. Alex’s career in the food industry started back at the ripe old age of just 18 years old, where he owned a baguette shop for 5 years. This ignited Alex’s passion for the food industry, introducing him to take a step into a chef role, one of which was at a fine dining restaurant in Carmarthen. Whilst in this role, Alex identified a gap in the market for a less formal dining experience in Carmarthen and set out to create a contrasting restaurant.
Restaurants & Cafes Cegin Hedyn Community Cafe
Cegin Hedyn is a community kitchen, canteen and growing project based in Carmarthen, focused on making local, seasonal and organic food accessible to everyone. Operating on a pay-what-you-can-afford model, Cegin Hedyn serves nutritious meals in a welcoming community space while also running volunteer-led allotments where food is grown using regenerative principles. The project brings people together through food, growing, composting, education and shared meals, helping tackle food insecurity, isolation and disconnection from the land. Alongside its community canteen, Cegin Hedyn hosts volunteer days, workshops, events and skills-sharing opportunities centred around sustainable food systems and community resilience. Produce grown on the allotments is used in the kitchen, with food waste composted and returned to the soil as part of a closed-loop growing system. Founded by chef and community food champion Deri Reed, the project has become a recognised example of community-led food action in Wales.
